When Did Walkers Discontinue Beef and Onion
Crisps from our childhood we DEMAND come back
They may be gone, but they are NEVER forgotten
Too many crisps have disappeared from our corner-shop shelves here in the UK, from the 90's right up to the 00's. We've already looked back at the best chocolate bars and cereals to fall down the snack-blackhole, but now it's time to turn our attention to crisps. Our lunchtime savoury saviours, our 'I'm feeling peckish' pick-me-ups, our bus journey companions - these are the discontinued crisps we want to return to us, immediately.

3D Doritos offered three times the flavour and crunch in Zesty Ranch, Nacho Cheese and JalapeƱo Cheddar flavours. They were so good that you didn't even need salsa or sour cream dip with them.

It just makes zero sense that these Thai delights are no longer stocked in our supermarkets. It was basically a quick, cheap and easy substitute for your favourite Thai takeaway.

Look, we can all agree that the original cheesy Wotsits are one of the tastiest crisp options out there, but that doesn't mean that we should forget about its tasty distant prawn cocktail cousin.

Nik Naks always deliver on seriously strong mouthwatering flavours and Cream N Cheesy didn't disappoint. So why oh why did they take it away from us?Nik Naks

Huge XL sized Hula Hoops in bold flavours like beef & mustard, curry and cool chili. Their end came too soon.

Bacony brilliance in waffle-shaped puff corn. Why can't Wotsits just give the people what they want and bring these Wafflers back?!

Ok, this might not be to everyone's taste - granted. BUT vanilla ice cream-flavoured Monster Munch deserve a mention purely for their unique and bold approach to flavour. Speaking of innovative crisps...

These pickled onion-flavoured Monster Munch apparently turned your mouth blue! As we never actually saw this happen with our own eyes, we demand a comeback so that we can see the proof for ourselves (all photos welcome).

Twiglets are funny little things, made even more interesting when dusted in Worcester Sauce flavouring. They were a weird but wonderful offering, and we kinda miss them.

The curious thing about this classic maize and potato snack is that it's still available in salt and vinegar but not in good old ready salted. This makes NO sense.

The original tuckshop crisps, pickled onion Space Raiders are untouchable. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case for the cheese-flavoured edition. But cheese is a GREAT easy-going flavour, so what was the problem?

These 'canny bags of crisps' from the north of England came in traditionally British flavours with a twist, including gammon & pineapple, kipper, hotdog & mustard, turkey & stuffing and, erm, chocolate. We want more weirdness!

These guys are really retro. Spicy beef Chinese Quavers were almost enough to make us throw out the local takeaway menu. Almost. (What is life without spring rolls, after all?)

Almost as finger licking good as the real deal, BBQ Rib are yet another Walkers flavour which inexplicably faced the chop. Walkers recently brought back a version for their Flavours of the Decades collection but it just isn't the same (ditto for lamb & mint). Boo!

To end on a more positive note, here's a packet that recently came back to us - but only in selected supermarkets. We want them to be available EVERYWHERE. Fish and chips in crisp form - we don't think we need to add anything more to this argument, really.

The GENIUS of these puffed delights was that they came in the shape of farm animals. Pure, snack delight.

Who would've thought that tomatoes and crisps would go together so well? Well sadly this generation won't be able to experience the beauty of tangy toms: one of the hidden gems of our childhoods.

Yes, believe it or not these ACTUALLY existed. And no, they didn't taste like Stephen Fry, these fan favourites recreated the taste of a classic fry up. They were released as part of a comedian themed run of crisp flavours for Comic relief in 2011, that also included Steak And Al Pie, Frank Roast Dinner and Jimmy Con-Carne.

17 discontinued cereals we want to bring back from the dead DEBUNKED: Are these food myths fact or fiction? You can now buy Bailey's Colada and it tastes exactly like holiday It's not just missing crisps we've been up in arms about recently. We've been mourning nostalgic drinks and chocolate, too. One of the great unsolved mysteries of our times is why the heck chocolate manufacturers decided to stop making these divine chocolate bars. Seriously. Remember KitKat Senses? Milkybar Chows? Twix Tops? And don't even get us started on Celebrations no longer having Galaxy Truffles... The GOOD news is that in 2021, there's a whole load of delicious new snacks on the shelves, and you don't even need to fall off your post-lockdown diet to enjoy them, either. Whether you're tracking your calorie intake or simply trying to be more aware of what you are eating, it's always useful to have low calorie snacks handy in your cupboard. Low calorie doesn't have to mean boring. In fact, there are plenty of delicious snack offerings on the market that are surprisingly low in calories. Check them out here.READ MORE...
